MANILA GROUP TOURS

Intramuros Tour Manila (Old & New)

Come with us as we take a fascinating tour of Manila, the old and new. This is one of our most popular city tour packages and offers tourist and opportunity to learn about the rich culture of the Philippines most populated city.

Our Manila tour will begin with a short drive through “Makati City” the financial district of the Philippines. It’s here where you can see towering skyscrapers that house some of the Philippines most notable companies.

Nielson’s Tower:

(Please be informed that the inside of Nielsons Tower is now closed, viewing from the outside only.)

Our first stop on the tour is “Nielson’s Tower” which is located along Ayala Avenue, and was once the first principle airport of Manila, from 1937 to 1947. Nielson's Tower is a two story building that today sits between “Ayala Avenue” and “Paseo de Roxas Boulevard”, once used as the airports principal runways.

Nielson's tower was designed to look like and airplane from above, with the center part of the building being the control tower, while the left side was used as the guest waiting area and the right side was for baggage claim.

Nielson's Tower has since been completely renovated and is now home to the “Filipina's Heritage Library” and the Nielson Tower Club Restaurant”.

Forbes Park:

Our second stop will be the American Cemetery and Memorial and to get there we will drive through what is “Forbes Park” which is locally referred to as “Millionaire’s Row”. As we drive through this historic part of Manila you will see beautiful tree lined streets with homes belonging to some of the Philippines most wealthy and elite residents.

American Cemetery and Memorial:

Once we come through Forbes Park, we will arrive at the “American Cemetery and Memorial, and it is said to be the largest and most beautiful outside the continental United States of America. Here you can walk around the grounds, read the names written on the walls of the many brave soldiers who lost their lives here during World War II.

This part of the Manila Tour is very educational, there is much to read here and, be sure to bring your camera.

“Walled City” of Intramuros:

Our third stop of the Manila tour will be at “Intramuros” where we will enter the “Walled City” passing through “Rizal Park” which was named after Jose Protacio Mercado Rizal a national hero of the Philippines. Here you will visit museums like “Casa Manila” the “San Agustin Church”, and see the historic walls and walk the grounds of an ancient city built by the Spanish hundreds of years ago.

San Agustin Church:

This is one of the largest and most fascinating churches in Manila, with two full floors that are dedicated to a well organized museum. Here you will learn about the history of this Manila church and the priest who managed it for hundreds of years. Tours are available daily except for Monday, when most tours for Manila are closed.

Casa Manila:

This is one of the oldest homes in Manila, dating back hundreds of years. The Casa Manila seen today is a true-to-life reproduction, as the original was badly damage by bombs being dropped by both American and British planes during World War II. Casa Manila represents life for an upper class Filipino family of wealth and education. The Casa Manila was fully restored under the supervision of Imelda Marcos former fist lady of the Philippines.

Luneta Park, Chinese Gardens, Jose Rizal Shrine:

The Luneta Park is one of the most historic parks in Manila, here you can visit the shrine dedicated to Jose Rizal, the Philippines national hero, who dedicated himself to fight for the rights of the Filipino people during the Spanish rule.

Manila Cathedral:

Our fourth stop on the Manila tour will be at the "Manila Cathedral" a beautiful Roman Catholic church situated near "Fort Santiago". The Manila Cathedral was established in 1571 by the Spanish. As we tour the inside of the cathedral you will have the opportunity to see ancient religious relics, statues, sculptures. For example as seen in the photo below, the beautiful ornate front doors to the Manila Cathedral offer hand carved biblical scenes.

Fort Santiago:

Our tour of historic Manila will end at “Fort Santiago” the Spanish fortress located at the entrance of the “Pasig River”. It is here where the Philippines national hero, Dr. Jose Rizal spent his final days writing his famous “My Last Farewell” before being executed by Filipino soldiers.

Mount Pinatubo Day Trip & Tour

If you are into adventure then you will really enjoy the trekking to Mount Pinatubo, another one of the Philippines top tourist destinations. Until 1991 Mount Pinatubo had no recorded history of an eruption, that all changed however on June 15, 1991 when this large volcano erupted, sending ash and rocky debris twenty-one (21) miles high, covering some 50,000 miles and bringing total darkness to most of the central Luzon Island.

Since then Mount Pinatubo has fallen back to sleep, however today you can see the spectacular formations that were created by the once hot flowing lava, it's very exciting. This is an excellent day trip that offers both adventure and historical features, as your guide will educate you on the complete history of Mount Pinatubo.

The drive from Manila to the town of Capas where your tour will begin takes approximately two (2) hours, we will transport you in our late model van or car that are comfortable and fully air-conditioned.

Once in the town of Capas you will meet-up with your Mount Pinatubo tour guide, who will give you detailed instructions on what you can and cannot do during this day trip, these instructions take about 10 minutes. Please remember that this trek is both difficult and dangerous, so be sure to listen to your professional tour guide, to ensure a safe and fun trip.

Now you are ready to board our 4×4 jeep for a very exciting trip across “Crow Valley” where you will traverse rocky trails, streams and see fantastic mountainous shapes created by the volcanic eruption of Mount Pinatubo.

The 4×4 jeep can only take you to the “7 Kilometer sign” from here you will be required to walk by foot, from the base of Crow Valley to the crater lake of Mount Pinatubo. This is a 4.25 mile long trek, one-way, so the round trip walk takes about 4 hours, again this time will vary depending on how fast or slow you walk, your guide will not rush you, so taking your time is totally fine.

Zoobic Safari

Subic Bay is located just 100 miles northwest of Manila, and is one of our most popular tours, this is mostly due to the interest people have in seeing the former “US Naval Base” located there, and how it has been transformed into a, “Free Port Zone” that attracts tourism.

The drive from Manila to Subic Bay is quite nice, as you will pass through the provinces of Bulacan and Pampanga, giving you a look at provincial life in the Philippines.

During the drive you will also see evidence of the devastation created by the 1991 eruption of “Mount Pinatubo”, one of the strongest and most devastating volcanic eruptions in the 20th century.

We will also visit the town of Bacolor in Pampanga, which was nearly buried by the lava flows during the Mount Pinatubo volcanic eruption in 1995.

Our tour continues onto the province of Zambales where Subic Bay is located, here we will stop for a tour of “Zoobic Safari” your chance to see real tigers in the wild, up close as we ride through the tiger enclosure.

There are many other wild life animals available to see at Zoobic Safari like, crocodiles, ostrich, camels, giraffe, snakes and even an area for kids, where they can touch the animals and have a wonderful experience.

Jose Rizal Memorial Tour

The Prison

Manila City Tour has designed a special Manila tour that is dedicated to the Philippines national hero, Dr. Jose Rizal, born in Calamba Laguna on June 19, 1861, and executed on December 30, 1896. Jose Rizal was regarded by Filipinos as their national hero due to his ability to stand against the Spanish.

Jose Rizal was the founder of “La Liga Filipina”, this was a civic organization that ultimately gave birth to the Katipunan, which would be the start of the Philippine Revolution against Spain.

Jose Rizal fought for the rights of the Filipino people, to have self-government, that would allow them to have dignity and self respect, and it was through these efforts of civil disobedience that caused the Spanish to imprison Jose Rizal at Fort Santiago located in the city of Intramuros.

The Execution

Our second stop on this special memorial tour takes us to Luneta Park, to the exact location where Jose Rizal was executed from behind, here you be able see and walk among beautifully designed statues displayed in positions that reenact his cowardly execution.

Dr. Jose Rizal was executed on December 30th in 1896 by Filipino soldiers of the Spanish Army, who were ordered to follow through with the execution, or be executed by the regular Spanish troops standing in the background.

The Burial

Our next stop for this Manila tour is Paco Park, this was the fist burial site of Dr. Jose Rizal, and although he was buried here in secret by the Spanish, it was through the efforts of his sister Narcisa, after touring several cemeteries that his grave was found.

Although the Paco Park cemetery was being guarded by Spanish soldiers, Narcisa found a sympathetic caretaker, and after making a small gift, the caretaker placed the initials of “RPJ” on the grave site, these were the initials of Jose Rizal in reverse.

Manila Churches

Come with us on a fascinating Manila day tour as we visit some of the most historic catholic churches in Manila. Our Manila church tour provides Filipino and foreign tourist with a fascinating insite to the history of each church as-well-as an opportunity to see unique and beautiful architecture. Manila churches in our tour include the, San Agustin Church, Manila Cathedral, Malate Church, Binondo Church and Nuestra Senora de Garcia (Guadalupe Ruins).

San Agustin Church

The San Agustin Church is the oldest stone church in the Philippines, built in 1589 and originally known as “inglesia de San Pablo”. The founder of Manila “Miguel Lopez de Leggaspi” is buried within the tomb of this church and in 1953 the terms of the American occupation of Manila was also signed here in the sacristy.

The San Agustin Church is really beautiful, and offers tourist a very in depth history lesson about the Spanish Augustinian Friars who first settled here. This Manila church tour provides photography enthusiast and excellent opportunity to take some fascinating pictures of some really unique architecture.

Malate Church

Malate Church is a church in Manila Philippines that was designed in the Baroque style (17th and 18th century architecture). The Malate Church faces a small park and is located one street off Roxas Boulevard, directly across from Manila Bay. Like many of the churches in Manila the Malate church was built in the 16th century by the Augustinian Friars.

From 1762 thru 1763 during the British occupation Philippines and attack on Intramuros many soldiers took refuge in this Manila church, many repairs were made after their departure. The Malate church was also destroyed in 1868 by a typhoon and again badly damaged in World War II, but has since been restored.

Manila Cathedral

The Manila Cathedral was a Manila church originally built in 1571 before it became a cathedral. The Manila Cathedral has been both damaged and destroyed several times, with the eight and current restoration being completed in 1958.

It was Miguel Lopez de Legazpi the founder of Manila who choose the location, with the first parish priest being Padre Juan de Villanueva. In 1579 this Manila church was raised into a cathedral and a new structure was created using nipa, bamboo and wood materials, this structure later burned down in 1583, causing great damage to the city.

From the outside of the Manila Cathedral you can see statues of famous saints that were sculpted using Roman travertine stone. The saints that grace the front of the church are, St. Jacob the Great, St. Rose of Lima, St. Anthony, St. Andrew the Apostle, St. Francis Xavier and St. Polycarp.

Binondo Church

The Binondo Church originally known as (Minor Basilica of St. Lorenzo Ruiz) was founded in 1596 in Binondo Manila by Dominican priest to serve the Chinese converting to Christianity. The original Binondo church was destroyed during the bombing of 1762 by the British.

In 1852 a new church was built at the same location using large granit stones, however like the first Binondo church the second one was aslo damaged quite badly during World War II, and as a result of the war the only original part of the church to survive was the octagon shaped bell tower.

San Lorenzo Ruiz father was of Chinese heritage and his mother was Filipino, and later became the Philippines first saint, being cannoized in 1987, a large statue of San Lorenzo Ruiz stands today at the church entrance.

Nuestra Senora de Gracia

Nuestra Senora de Gracia Church in Manila is located in Makati City among one of the oldest Roman Catholic Parishes. This baroque style Manila church sits adjacent to the monastery currently managed by the Augustinian Friars of Saint Nino de Cebu.

This beautiful church in Manila offers a mixture of different architectures due to the damage sustained in the 1882 earthquake and again during the 1894 war between the Filipinos and United States.

However due to the unique architecture of the Nuestra Senora de Gracia Church in Manila it has become one of the most popular venues for weddings in Manila.

Manila Shopping

“Shopping in Manila” can be fun, and with so many nice malls to choose from like, “The Mall of Asia”, “Market Market Mall” and “Trinoma Mall”, why it’s no wonder that many people do consider Manila to be a shopper’s paradise. However, there can be one major drawback to shopping in Manila, and that is finding a taxi that will take you to the high traffic malls in Manila without over charging you, or by not using the required meter.

We take the hassle out of the “Manila Shopping” experience by providing you with a reliable driver and car or van. You will be picked up by our professional driver at your hotel and ride comfortably in a clean car, with cold air-condition. Our driver will let you out of the car at the front entrance of the mall, where you can shop until you are ready to leave, then just text our driver who will be waiting for you in the mall parking garage.

Once you have completed your shopping you will just need to text the driver that you are ready to be picked up, and he will meet you at the exit area, now it’s just that’s easy.

This is the easiest way to shop in Manila and avoid the hassle of traffic and the inconvenience of finding a taxi while you stand on the curb with an arm full of packages, especially if it starts to rain, and in Manila, that can happen at a moment’s notice.

Special Note: If you are a foreign guest and do not have a phone to text locally, we can arrange to loan you a phone so you can stay in touch with the driver.

Philippine Veterans Museum

This tour aims to recognize the gallantry of World War II soldiers who played a very important role in the history of the Philippines. The Tour also aims to provide big picture of World War II in the lives our very own Filipino soldiers.

Philippine Veterans Museum

To begin the tour we will go first to Philippine Veterans Museum which is a must- see attraction in Taguig City as it is the only museum in the Philippines  that  exhibits World War II event where  the daily life  or great life stories of  Filipino soldiers  during that  time are being  unveiled  and illustrated  through tableaus in a very organize, thematic, and entertaining manner.

The Veterans Museum was envisioned by Col. Emmanuel V. Ocampo and was built to remember, recognize and share to everyone (especially the Filipino youth) the remarkably heroic deeds of the great Filipino soldiers (now called veterans) who risked and sacrificed their lives for the protection and liberation of the Philippines against the Japanese forces during World War II.

Murals, life-sized dioramas that were carved by native artisans, war weapons, artifacts, war-time newspapers, pictures, and soldiers’ personal life stories during World War II that can’t be found in any history books are some of the things that can be seen, appreciated and enjoyed in this world class museum.

Nielsen's Tower

Our next stop is the Nielsen Tower which was once the passenger station and control tower of Nielsen Airport. The said airport was once the Philippines first international and commercial airport from 1937-1947 which name was taken from businessman and an aviation fan Laurie Reuben Nielsen the one who built the airport.

Nielsen Tower, located along Ayala Avenue (once the airport runway), is a two story building designed to look like an aircraft on aerial view.

Today, the said tower is the home of the Filipinas Heritage Library which is an electronic research center of the Philippines.

American Cemetery and Memorial

Our tour will end at the American Cemetery and Memorial which is a well-maintained beautiful and peaceful cemetery and memorial located in Fort Bonifacio Taguig City; dedicated to American men who fearlessly offered their lives for their country during World War II.
